As the head designer and creative director for Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld (pictured) is most at home crafting little black dresses. But he’s temporarily swapped catwalk modeling for chocolate modeling as part of a magnum advertising campaign to launch the new Magnum Ecuador and Ghana ice creams.
The designer used 10.5 tonnes of chocolate (the equivalent of 42,000 Dairy Milk bars) to create a chocolate hotel room. Think corrugated chocolate wallpaper, dreamy chocolate headboard and white chocolate pillow.
As if that wasn’t enough, Lagerfeld took the extra step to mould his muse (Baptiste Giabiconi) draped on the bed, wearing tighty-whities and noshing on a chocolate lolly. I hope that someone else recognized the similarity between Giabiconi’s pose and Zoolander’s ‘magnum’ – I really hope it wasn’t a coincidence.
