Forget insipid weetabix mush, and cardboard-tasting cornflakes. I could happily start every day with a spicy breakfast. If I’m really treating myself, then I’ll begin the day with Indian akuri, or green chilli-scrambled tofu. The perfect way to blow away the cobwebs first thing in the morning, along with a feisty little cup of coffee….
Just a quiet night in watching Great British Bake Off, and not much in the fridge…so usually I really wouldn’t bother blogging…but then, against all odds, all my leftovers suddenly came together into the most magical supper, so thought I’d share it….
It’s round this time of year that my mother is in the midst of a fruit-induced madness. It starts with raspberries, then strawberries, then redcurrants…then just as it’s beginning to wane, it’s the blackcurrants, blackberries, then apples……
Who knew 3 eggs, a head of broccoli and some stinky, old Lincolnshire Poacher could be so delicious?
I come from a family who happily scoop a bit of mold out of the yogurt, or pick out the furry green bits from for a slice of bread.
Sell by dates don’t usually bother me….
